CivicsPass is a study app for the US naturalization civics test. This page says what it collects, what it doesn't, and why — in the same plain terms the app itself uses.

No account, no identity

There is no sign-up. The app creates an anonymous identifier on first launch so your practice history can sync and survive reinstalls. We never ask for — and never hold — your name, email address, phone number, or immigration details.

Your voice

Spoken answers are transcribed entirely on your iPhone, by a speech model the app downloads once and keeps on the device. No recording is ever sent to our server or to anyone else, and we do not store audio anywhere — not on the phone, not on a server. The only thing that leaves your device is text (see below).

What is stored

• Session history — the text of each answer, how it was scored, and when. This is what the History tab and your progress statistics are built from.
• Per-question statistics — attempts, streaks, and results, used to decide what to ask you next.
• Settings — your state, your chosen representative, and preferences like voice speed. Your state and district determine which officeholder answers you are scored against; they are not used for anything else.

All of it is keyed to the anonymous identifier and readable by no other user.

Scoring ambiguous answers

Most answers are scored on your device. When an answer is genuinely ambiguous, its text transcript may be sent to our server to be judged against the official answer list. The transcript is the only content sent, and scoring services never see who you are.

No tracking

No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no data brokers, no tracking of any kind. We have nothing to sell and nobody to sell it to. This website counts page views — a number per page per day, with no cookies and no identifiers — so we know whether anyone visits; it cannot know who you are.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete all my data removes every session, statistic, and preference — from the device and from our servers. It works immediately and completely; there is no grace period and no retained copy.
